After a visit to his girlfriend, Andrei Matei was driving along a highway in Romania when something suddenly crossed the street. He slowed down and moved past, then he realized they were puppies running on the road. There were 3 of them. Andrei was thankful that he did not run over the cute little creatures.
When Andrei stopped his car and got out on the highway, the 3 puppies ran to him and were very eager to see that a person found them. The bubbly puppies were very playful, and Andrei could not leave them all alone on the highway since they might get run over by other fast-moving vehicles that pass by. He carried the 3 puppies (2 girls (black) and 1 boy (cream)) and placed them carefully on the floor in front of the passenger seat.
“I immediately braked and stopped the car, and started going backward,” Andrei said. “I went out of the car and there were three puppies, jumping on my leg and very happy. They did not have any idea that they were one inch close to death.”
Andrei captured the 3 puppies in photos and posted them on Facebook. One of his friends responded and suggested calling his neighbor, who works as a rescuer for stray animals. After a brief conversation about the situation with the 3 puppies, the rescuer agreed to meet Andrei at a local vet clinic and have the puppies checked out. Andrei went on a 3-hour drive back to his city, and the 3 puppies were enjoying their ride with him to the vet… and eventually fell asleep from exhaustion.
The vet claimed that the 3 puppies were approximately 4 to 5 weeks old. They had fleas, but all 3 were in good health. Parvo, Corona, and Giardia tests were negative, and they were dewormed. The vet assumed that they may have been abandoned on the highway. Surprisingly, the 3 bubbly puppies were not afraid of strangers and were eager to meet everyone who came to greet them.
“I left after with her promise that all the pups will be fine and that she will take care of finding them new homes,” Andrei Matei said. “I checked after one week on her Facebook page, and all the pups were with their new families, safe and happy.”
Soon, Andrei said goodbye to his new-found buddies from the highway and went his way. The rescuer agreed to foster the 3 puppies until they find their forever home, which was not a long wait. The puppies have been adopted after a week.
